First day of Summer 2017 PID Fellowship

We kicked off the first day of our Summer 2017 Public Interest Design Fellowship yesterday, with field trips to two of our past project sites – Community Book Center and Parisite Skate Park, an introduction into water management in New Orleans, and an in-depth discussion of Whitney Young’s famed 1968 address to the AIA and the Design for Equity blog series written by some of our peer public interest design practitioners.

Our annual PID Fellowship is an intensive 8-week paid internship opportunity for students enrolled in the Tulane School of Architecture to work on real-world projects with community-based organizations in New Orleans.

This summer’s Fellows are:

  • Kekeli Dawes
  • Carolyn Isaacson
  • Christie Melgar
  • Ana Sandoval
  • Ryan Shaaban
  • Kelsey Willis

We’re also pleased to welcome Aron Chang, Project Co-Director of Ripple Effect, as the Design Lead for the first two-week module of the fellowship.

The 2017 Summer Public Interest Design Fellowship is made possible with support from Morris Adjmi, Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, and the Sizeler Family.
