Small Center is hiring student interns!

Small Center is seeking a part-time administrative intern. Through this paid internship, you will gain office and event-management experience by working alongside staff in a community design center affiliated with the Tulane School of Architecture.
Responsibilities may include:
• Writing and design assignments, including creating press releases and flyers
• Setting up and taking down chairs, tables, food, and AV equipment on event days
• Preparing gallery for shows, including printing and cutting signs, and hanging pieces
• Scheduling and contacting potential speakers through both email and phone
• Photographing event speakers and audience members
• Answering telephone inquiries and entering MailChimp contacts into the digital database
• Canvassing the neighborhood and campus for upcoming events
• Assisting with research and writing for upcoming and past projects
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
• Professional phone manner
• Friendly, polite, and team-oriented
• Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work both independently and collaboratively
• Must be comfortable with climbing short heights and lifting 20 pounds
• Must be available to work monthly events on Monday and Tuesday evenings
Bonus points for:
• Interest in community-driven design, social justice, and/or architecture
• Graphic design skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Previous office experience
Additional Info:
• $12 per hour
• Time commitment is 6–10 hours per week with a regular schedule
• Preference for those who can continue Summer 2018 and Fall 2018
• Non-architecture students and those who are early on in their degree programs, especially first-years, sophomores, and first-year doctoral candidates, are encouraged to apply
